Medaglia D'Oro Adds UK Black-Type

On the UK track, multiple Gr1-winning shuttler Medaglia D'Oro (El Prado-Cappucino Bay, by Bailjumper) added a black-type success when US-bred 4YO entire Passion For Gold (Medaglia D'Oro-C'est L' Amour, by Thunder Gulch) scored a 2.5-lengths victory in the £30,000 (A$47,000) Listed Tapster Stakes (12 furlongs) for 4YOs & up at Goodwood. Passion For Gold (ridden by Frankie Dettori for trainer Saeed Bin Suroor) defeated fellow 4YO entire Jet Away (Cape Cross-Kalima, by Kahyasi) & US-bred 6YO entire Steele Tango (Okawango-Waltzing Around, by Ela-mana-mou). Passion For Gold was originally a US$125,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale & subsequently a sale-topping 260,000 guineas (A$416,000) 2YO at the 2009 UK Tattersalls Craven Breeze-Up Sale. Overall he now boasts 3 wins (also including 2009's Gr1 Criterium De Saint-Cloud over 2000m by 6-lengths) & 2 placings (including 2009's Irish Gr2 Beresford Stakes over 8 furlongs at The Curragh) from 5 starts for £173,206 (A$268,000) earnings.
