Niwot Wins Andrew Ramsden Stakes

Former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a black-type success when favoured 6YO gelding Niwot (Galileo-Too Darn Hot, by Noble Bijou) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the $200,000 Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes (3200m) at Flemington in Melbourne. Top-weighted Niwot (ridden by Dead Yendall for trainers Michael, Wayne & John Hawkes) defeated 5YO gelding I'm Jake (Pins-Venetian Court, by Pompeii Court) & 4YO gelding Norsqui (Matsqui-Esprit Du Nord, by Celtic Spirit). Niwot (a $200,000 yearling at the 2006 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 7 wins (also including 2009's Listed Winter Cup over 2400m at Rosehill) & 4 placings (including last start's Listed Warrnambool Cup over 2350m on May 5) from 17 starts for $401,825 earnings.
