Roderic O'Connor Wins Irish Gr1 2000 Guineas

In Ireland, former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (Sadler's Wells-Urban Sea, by Miswaki) added a Gr1 triumph when front-running colt Roderic O'Connor (Galileo-Secret Garden, by Danehill) led all-the-way to score a 0.75-length victory in the €325,000 (A$452,000) Gr1 2000 Guineas (8 furlongs) for 3YOs at The Curragh. Roderic O'Connor (ridden by Joseph O'Brien for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated favoured UK-bred colt Dubawi Gold (Dubawi-Savannah Belle, by Green Desert) & another colt Oracle (Danehill Dancer-Zibilene, by Rainbow Quest). Roderic O'Connor took his record to 3 wins (also including 2010's French Gr1 Criterium International over 1600m at Saint-Cloud) & 2 placings (including 2010's UK Gr1 Dewhurst Stakes over 7 furlongs at Newmarket) from 6 starts for €423,067 (A$588,000) earnings.
