Monday, 23rd May 2011

In France overnight, multiple Gr1-winning former shuttler Refuse To Bend (Sadler's Wells-Market Slide, by Gulch) added a Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred daughter Wavering (Refuse To Bend-Summertime Legacy, by Darshaan) finished strongly from back in the field to gain the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the €250,000 (A$348,000) Gr1 Prix Saint-Alary (2000m) for 3YO fillies at Longchamp. Wavering (ridden by Maxime Guyon for trainer Andre Fabre) scored by a short-neck from fellow Irish-bred Epic Love (Dansili-Leopard Hunt, by Diesis) with a further neck to another Irish-bred Nonsuch Way (Verglas-Lucky Lune, by Priolo). Wavering took her record to 2 wins & 1 placing (in last start's Gr3 Prix Cleopatra over 2100m at Saint-Cloud on May 7) from 4 starts for €171,850 (A$239,000) earnings.
