Hinchinbrook Confirmed For Royal Ascot Trip

Tuesday, 24th May 2011

Trainer Peter Moody confirmed Gr3-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed 3YO colt Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock-Snippets' Lass, by Snippets) is definitely heading to England for next month's Royal Ascot carnival following an impressive barrier trial win at Cranbourne in Victoria yesterday. Hinchinbrook won the 800m trial in 47.35sec (fastest of the day on the "slow 7" track). Moody said Hinchinbrook is due to fly out of Australia on June 1 (accompanied by Danny O'Brien-trained dual Gr1-winner Star Witness) & has been nominated for the Gr1 Golden Jubilee Stakes (6 furlongs) at Royal Ascot on June 18, with a further possible start in the Gr1 July Cup (6 furlongs) at Newmarket on July 8. Hinchinbrook (a 3/4-brother to Gr1-winning Arrowfield Stud stallion Snitzel) currently boasts 2 wins (in 2010's Gr3 Skyline Stakes over 1200m at Randwick & Listed Canonbury Stakes over 1100m at Randwick) & 7 placings (including April's Gr1 All Aged Stakes over 1400m at Randwick, March's Gr1 William Reid Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley & February's Gr1 Oakleigh Plate over 1100m at Caulfield, plus 2010's Gr1 Inglis AJC Sires' Produce Stakes over 1400m at Randwick, Gr2 Pago Pago Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill, Listed Governor Macquarie Cup over 1200m at Randwick & Listed Heritage Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill) from 14 starts for $590,300 earnings.
