Trainer Robert Price Breaks Neck & Back At Trackwork

Wednesday, 25th May 2011

NSW south coast trainer Robert Price broke the C7 vertebrae in his neck & suffered a compressed fracture of the T5 vertebrae in his back in a trackwork accident last weekend. Nowra-based Price told racenet.com.au: “We were just working a couple of young ones & mine just dived out from under me for no real reason. The saddle slipped, went straight around his body & I was on the deck before I knew it. As soon as I hit the ground, I knew I was in trouble; I heard the crack.” Price said the injuries are likely to have him “laid up for a couple of months” adding: “I've also pulled all the cartilage off my sternum, which is making it very hard to breathe. I'm in a brace for 6 weeks, then we'll do a bit of physio I suppose.”
