Magic Millions Weanlings Day-1: $150k Duke Of Marmalade Colt

Thursday, 26th May 2011

Bloodstock agent Cameron Cooke paid $150,000 for a colt from the 1st-crop of 5-time Gr1-winner shuttler Duke Of Marmalade (the 5th foal out of 5-time-winning & Gr2-placed 13-year-old Luskin Star mare Mrs Tendulkar) consigned by Erinvale Thoroughbreds as agent. Cooke commented: “I'm a huge fan of Duke Of Marmalade & I liked this bloke the moment I saw him at Erinvale before coming up to the Gold Coast. I purchased him for a Victorian-based client & he may be retained to race - but no decision will be made just yet - he could turn up in a sale as a yearling. The colt was my pick of the sale & he looks a ready-made racehorse.” The colt’s dam Mrs Tendulkar is a half-sister to Gr1-winner Shindig (dam of Gr1-winning & 4-time Gr1-placed Shinzig & multiple stakes-winning sire Strada), Gr2-winning & Gr1-placed Cobbora, Gr3-winner Bush Honey & stakes-winner Interest Only.
