Maryland 2YOs Final Average Down 1.5%

Thursday, 26th May 2011

Overall at the conclusion of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2YOs-in-training, 343 lots sold for US$16,211,100 (up 23.8% on last year’s 273 sold for US$13,099,500). The final average of US$47,263 was fractionally down by 1.5% (last year US$47,984) & the final median of US$25,000 was down by 7.4% (last year US$27,000). Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning told bloodhorse.com: “The numbers are very consistent from where they were last year & that’s encouraging, considering the catalogue was 50% larger this year. I thought throughout both days there was a very solid marketplace, whether you had a horse that needed to bring several hundred thousand dollars, or a mid-range horse in the US$25,000-US$50,000 range & even on the lower end of that. We had 2 days of very solid, competitive bidding.”
