US Farnsworth Owner Mike Sherman Dies At 71
Prominent US breeder Mike Sherman “who built Farnsworth Farm into a Florida powerhouse breeding establishment” died at his North Miami home aged 71, reported bloodhorse.com. Farnsworth (purchased in the 1950s after Sherman’s father Isidore & run by Mike from the start) “concentrated on breeding horses instead of racing them”. The farm’s chief stallion during the early days was Bolinas Boy & it has subsequently “bred about 220 stakes-winners alone & in partnership” while “regularly appearing in the list of the top US breeders”. The farm was honored with a 1996 Eclipse Award as outstanding breeder. Its major stars include multiple Gr1-winners Jewel Princess (1996 Champion Older Mare), Mecke & Beautiful Pleasure (1999 Champion Older Female), plus Gr1-winners Jackie Wackie & Powder Break.
