Gundy Son Wins Chief De Beers

Dual Gr1-winning Glenlogan Park stallion Falvelon (Alannon-Devil's Zephyr, by Zephyr Zing) added a black-type success (& 6th individual stakes-winner) when favoured 5YO gelding Gundy Son (Falvelon-Dantibes’ Treasure, by Dantibes) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to the $80,000 Listed Chief De Beers (1100m) at Doomben. Gundy Son (ridden by Paul Hammersley for trainer Robert Heathcote) scored by a half-neck from 4YO gelding Metallurgical (Redoute's Choice-Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon) with a further short-neck to fellow 4YO gelding Nickiera (Top Echelon-Zartacus, by Spartacus). Gundy Son (a a $26,000 yearling consigned by Kelana Park at the 2007 Magic Millions Premier Sale) now has 8 wins (also including both January’s Magic Millions Plate over 1200m at the Gold Coast & 2010’s Magic Millions Plate over 1200m at the Gold Coast) & 10 placings from 28 starts for $341,350 earnings.
