Johar Adds US Gr3

Multiple Gr1-winning former NZ Highview Stud shuttler Johar (Gone West-Windsharp, by Lear Fan) added a US graded-stakes success when 5YO mare Keertana (Johar-Motokiks, by Storm Cat) prevailed in a 3-way photoi-finish to the US$111,200 Gr3 Louisville Handicap (12 furlongs) at Churchill Downs in Kentucky. Keertana (ridden by Jose Lezcano for trainer Thomas Proctor) scored by a nose from 5YO gelding Bearpath (Dynaformer-Song 'n Silk, by Unbridled's Song) with a further nose to 4YO entire Guys Reward (Grand Reward-Beach View, by Mr Greeley). Keertana took her record to 11 wins (also including April’s Gr3 Bewitch Stakes over 12 furlongs at Keeneland & February's Gr3 The Very One Stakes over 11 furlongs at Gulfstream Park, plus 2010's Gr3 Glens Falls Handicap over 11 furlongs at Saratoga & both 2009's Gr3 Regret Stakes over 9 furlongs at Churchill Downs & Listed Distaff Classic over 8 furlongs at Manor Downs) & 11 placings (including March's Gr3 Hillsborough Stakes over 9 furlongs at Tampa Day Downs, plus 2010's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf over 11 furlongs at Churchill Downs, Gr3 Early Times Mint Julep Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Churchill Downs & Listed De La Rose Stakes over 8 furlongs at Saratoga, as well as 2009's Gr1 Garden City Stakes over 9 furlongs at Belmont Park, Gr2 Mrs Revere Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Churchill Downs, Gr2 Lake Placid Handicap over 9 furlongs at Saratoga & Gr3 Valley View Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Keeneland) from 26 starts for US$981,938 earnings.
