Magic Millions Mares Day-1: $800k Military Rose

Monday, 30th May 2011

Baramul Stud paid $800,000 for Gr2-winning 3YO filly Military Rose (General Nediym-Bella Maddelena, by Flying Spur) consigned by Hoss & Gillian Heinrich. Military Rose (originally a $155,000 yearling consigned by Middlebrook Valley Lodge at the 2009 Magic Millions Premier Sale on the Gold Coast) boasts 6 wins (including this month’s Gr3 Gold Coast Guineas over 1200m, plus 2010's Gr2 Reisling Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill & Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200m at the Gold Coast, as well as 2009's Listed Calaway Gal Stakes over 1000m at Eagle Farm) & 1 placing (in 2010's Gr3 TBV Champagne Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley) from 12 starts for $1,626,900 earnings. Baramul Stud's Gerry Harvey noted: “She will race on until she heads to stud in September. Gillian (Heinrich) will keep training her for me & hopefully she can win another feature race or two before she is retired. She's a top class mare & she will visit Redoute's Choice in her 1st season at stud later in the year.”
