Mighty High Wins HK Gr1 Champions & Charter Cup

Monday, 30th May 2011

In Hong Kong yesterday, former shuttler Peintre Celebre (Nureyev-Peinture Bleue, by Alydar) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO gelding Mighty High (Peintre Celebre-Bernimixa, by Linamix) scored by a short-head in the HK$8 million (A$1m) Gr1 Champions & Chater Cup (2400m) at Sha Tin. Mighty High (ridden by Australian jockey Darren Beadman for expatriate Australian trainer John Moore) defeated last year’s winning Irish-bred 6YO stayer Mr Medici (Medicean-Way For Life, by Platini) & 9YO gelding Viva Pataca (Marju-Comic, by Be My Chief). Mighty High now has 4 wins (also including February’s Gr3 Centenary Case over 1800m) & 6 placings (including both this month’s Gr1 QEII Cup over 2000m & Gr3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup over 2400m, plus March’s Gr3 Hong Premier Plate over 1800m & February’s Gr1 Citibank Hong Kong Gold Cup over 2000m) from 14 starts in HK for HK$10,521,500 (A$1.315m) earnings.
