1st Winner For US$8m Freshman Sire Mr Sekiguchi
In Canada, US$8 million yearling & now 8YO stallion Mr Sekiguchi (Storm Cat-Welcome Surprise, by Seeking The Gold) recorded his 1st winner when 2YO filly Rose And Shine (Mr Sekiguchi-Yellowenglishrose, by Colonial Affair) scored on debut over 4.5 furlongs on all-weather at Woodbine in Toronto for trainer Ralph Biamonte. Mr Sekiguchi (whose dam Welcome Surprise is a graded stakes-winning half-sister to Classic winners A.P.Indy & Summer Squall) was bought for a sale-topping US$8 million by Fusao Sekiguchi at the 2004 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. On the track, he notched 2 wins & 2 placings from 4 starts before retiring due to a tibia injury. Mr Sekiguchi stood his initial 2 seasons at Hill n Dale Fram in Kentucky, before moving to Bridlewood Farm in Florida for the 2010 season; his 2011 stud fee is US$2,500.
