Trainer Aims HK Gr1-Winner Mighty High At Melb Cup

Tuesday, 31st May 2011

Meanwhile expatriate Australian trainer John Moore confirmed French-bred & Hong Kong-based 5YO gelding Mighty High (Peintre Celebre-Bernimixa, by Linamix) may be aimed at this year’s Gr1 Melbourne Cup, following his victory in Sunday’s HK Gr1 Champions & Chater Cup (2400m) at Sha Tin. Moore noted: “Darren (Beadman, Australian jockey) got off & said he thought this would be a perfect horse for the Melbourne Cup.” And Beadman noted that, having won at 2400m, Mighty High now fulfils one of the conditions for qualification to run in The Melbourne Cup, while owner Albert Hung “gave his immediate consent to the idea”. Mighty High currently has 4 wins (also including February’s Gr3 Centenary Case over 1800m) & 6 placings (including both this month’s Gr1 QEII Cup over 2000m & Gr3 Queen Mother Memorial Cup over 2400m, plus March’s Gr3 Hong Premier Plate over 1800m & February’s Gr1 Citibank Hong Kong Gold Cup over 2000m) from 14 starts.
