Dubai Destination Adds UK Gr3
In the UK overnight, dual Gr1-winning former shuttler Dubai Destination (Kingmambo-Mysterial, by Alleged) added a group success when The Aga Khan’s Irish-bred 3YO filly Alanza (Dubai Destination-Alasha, by Barathea) notched her 3rd successive stakes victory when she gained the judge’s decision over her older rivals in a 3-way photo-finish to the £50,000 (A$75,000) Gr3 Sceptre Stakes (7 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Doncaster. Alanza (ridden by Johnny Murtagh for trainer John Oxx) scored by a neck from 4YO mare Dever Dream (Medicean-Sharplaw Venture, by Polar Falcon) with a further head to favoured Irish-bred 4YO mare Chachamaidee (Footstepsinthesand-Canterbury Lace, by Danehill). Alanza now has 4 wins (also including both August’s Listed Fairy Bridge Stakes over 7.5 furlongs at Tipperary & July’s Listed Platinum Stakes over 8 furlongs at Cork) & 2 placings (including July’s Listed Sweet Mimosa Stakes over 6 furlongs at Naas) from 6 starts.
