Former Shuttler Marju Retired From Stud Duty At 23
In Ireland overnight, Derrinstown Stud general manager Stephen Collins announced Gr1-winning former Collingrove shuttler Marju (Last Tycoon-Flame Of Tara, by Artaius) “has been retired at the age of 23” reported racingpost.com. Irish-bred Marju (who won the UK Gr1 St James' Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot & finished runner-up in the Gr1 English Derby before retiring to Derrinstown at the end of his 3YO career) subsequently produced 4-time Gr1-winner Soviet Song, dual Gr1-winner My Emma, Gr1-winner Sil Sila & Hong Kong’s all-time record money-earner & 8-time Gr1-winner Viva Pataca; as a broodmare sire Marju’s best representative is 5-time Gr1-winning current star Canford Cliffs.
