Mr Tipsy Wins NZ Karaka Classic

Dual-Derby winning sire & former Windsor Park shuttler Montjeu Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a NZ black-type success when 7YO gelding Mr Tipsy (Montjeu-Fairy Tipsy, by Casual Lies) scored by a short-neck in yesterday’s NZ$45,000 Listed Westbury Stud Karaka Classic (1600m) at Pukekohe Park. Mr Tipsy (ridden by Opie Bosson for trainer Murray Baker) defeated 6YO mare Affairoftheheart (Fusaichi Pegasus-Call Me Lily, by Just A Dancer) & 5YO gelding Toughasim (Lord Of Warriors-Wind Flower, by Sepulveda). Mr Tipsy (a NZ$41,000 yearling at the 2006 NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale at Karaka) took his record to 9 wins (also including January’s Listed Marton Cup over 2200m at Awapuni) & 7 placings (including February’s Australian Sportingbet Night Cup over 2500m at Moonee Valley, plus both 2009’s Australian Gr1 Sydney Cup over 3200m at Randwick & Gr1 Auckland Cup over 3200m at Ellerslie) from 29 starts for NZ$524,066 earnings.
