Tuesday, 4th October 2011

Five more international contenders for the $6 million Gr1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) have entered quarantine at Newmarket in the UK. The Mark Johnston-trained pair Jukebox Jury & Fox Hunt were joined by the Ed Dunlop-trained Red Cadeaux for 2 weeks pre-export quarantine on Friday. The trio are scheduled to arrive at Victoria’s Werribee International Horse Centre on Gr1 Caulfield Cup Day (Saturday 15 October). A 50% stake in Jukebox Jury (last start dead-heat winner of the Gr1 Irish St Leger) has been acquired by Australian-based owners Gerry Ryan & Kevin Bamford (who also race last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Americain). In addition, Godolphin pair Modun and Lost In The Moment entered quarantine at Newmarket over the weekend & are scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on October 17.
