Dream Ahead Wins French Gr1 Prix De La Foret

Tuesday, 4th October 2011

Khalifa Dasmal's US-bred 3YO colt Dream Ahead (Diktat-Land Of Dreams, by Cadeaux Genereux) notched his 5th Gr1 triumph when he flashed home to score by a head in France’s €300,000 (A$411,000) Gr1 Prix de la Foret (1400m) at Longchamp. Dream Ahead (ridden by William Buick for trainer David Simcock) defeated 14-time Gr1-winning Irish-bred 6YO mare Goldikova (Anabaa-Born Gold, by Blushing Groom) with a further 6-lengths back to Irish-bred fellow 3YO colt Surfrider (Dansili-Ecoutila, by Rahy). Dream Ahead (last season’s UK joint-champion 2YO) was originally a US$11,000 yearling at the 2009 Keeneland September Sale & subsequently a £36,000 (A$58,000) 2YO at the 2010 Doncaster April Breeze-Up Sale. Overall he now has 6 wins (also including September’s UK Gr1 Betfred Sprint Cup over 6 furlongs at Haydock Park & July’s UK Gr1 July Cup over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, plus both 2010’s UK Gr1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket & French Gr1 Prix Morny over 1200m at Deauville) from 9 starts for €931,116 (A$1.276m) earnings.
