Flat Out Wins US Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup

In the US, 5YO entire Flat Out (Flatter-Cresta Lil, by Cresta Rider) scored a 2.25-lengths victory in the US$750,000 Gr1 Jockey Club Gold Cup (10 furlongs) at Belmont Park in New York. Flat Out (ridden by Alex Solis for trainer Charles Dickey) defeated 4YO entire Drosselmeyer (Distorted Humor-Golden Ballet, by Moscow Ballet) & 3YO colt Stay Thirsty (Bernardini-Marozia, by Storm Bird). Flat Out (a US$11,000 weanling at the 2006 Ocala Breeders October Sale & later a US$85,000 yearling at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale) now has 5 wins (also including July’s Gr2 Suburban Handicap over 10 furlongs at Belmont Park, plus 2009’s Listed Smarty Jones Stakes over 8 furlongs at Oaklawn Park) & 3 runners-up (including September’s Gr1 Woodward Stakes over 9 furlongs at Saratoga, August’s Gr1 Whitney Invitational Handicap over 9 furlongs at Saratoga & May’s Gr3 Lone Star Park Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Lone Star) from 12 starts for US$1,109,713 earnings.
