Havre De Grace Wins US Gr1 Beldame Invitational

Tuesday, 4th October 2011

Fox Hill Farm’s ultra-consistent 4YO mare Havre De Grace (Saint Liam-Easter Bunnette, by Carson City) from the sole crop sired by deceased US Gr1 Breeders' Cup Classic winner Saint Liam, slaughtered her rivals by 8.25-lengths in the US$350,000 Gr1 Beldame Invitational Stakes (9 furlongs) for fillies & mares at Belmont Park. Favourite Havre De Grace (ridden by Ramon Dominguez for trainer Larry Jones) defeated 3YO filly Royal Delta (Empire Maker-Delta Princess, by A.P.Indy) & 5YO mare Satans Quick Chick (Sky Mesa-Dancing Devlette, by Devil's Bag). Havre De Grace (a US$380,000 yearling at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale) took her record to 8 wins (also including September’s Gr1 Woodward Stakes over 9 furlongs at Saratoga, June’s Gr3 Obeah Handicap over 9 furlongs at Delaware Park, April’s Gr1 Apple Blossom Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Oaklawn Park & March's Gr3 Azeri Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Oaklawn Park, plus 2010's Gr2 Cotillion Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Philadelphia Park) & 6 placings (including July’s Gr2 Delaware Handicap over 10 furlongs at Delaware Park, plus 2010's Gr1 Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic over 9 furlongs at Churchill Downs, Gr1 Alabama Stakes over 10 furlongs at Saratoga, Gr2 Delaware Oaks over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park & Listed Go For Wand Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Delaware Park) from 14 starts for $2,196,175 earnings.
