Holy Roman Empire Adds UK Black-Type
Dual Gr1-winning shuttler Holy Roman Emperor (Danehill-L'On Vite, by Secretariat) added a UK black-type success when Irish-bred 3YO fillies Crying Lightening (Holy Roman Emperor-Auction Room, by Chester House) scored a 0.75-length victory against older rivals in the £35,000 (A$56,000) Listed October Stakes (7 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Ascot. Crying Lightening (ridden by Martin Dwyer for trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam) defeated fellow Irish-bred 3YO fillies Elshabakiya (Diktat-Amalie, by Fasliyev) & Marvada (Elusive City-Theory Of Law, by Generous). Crying Lightening was an 8,000 guineas (A$13,200) yearling at the 2009 UK Tattersalls October Sale & subsequently a £26,000 (A$41,600) 2YO at the 2010 Doncaster April Sale. Overall she now has 3 wins & 2 placings (in 2010’s Gr3 Sweet Solera Stakes over 7 furlongs at Newmarket & Listed Star Stakes over 7 furlongs at Sandown Park) from 12 starts for £82,816 (A$133,000) earnings.
