So You Think 4th In French Gr1 Arc De Triomphe

In France, former Australian superstar & 8-time Gr1-winning 5YO entire So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) finished 4th in the field of 16 runners, as Gestut Berg Eberstein & Teruya Yoshida's boom German-bred 3YO filly Danedream (Lomitas-Danedrop, by Danehill) notched her 3rd successive Gr1 triumph (despite starting at 27-1) when she blitzed her older rivals by 5-lengths in record time (2min 24.49sec) in the €4 million (A$5.48 million) Gr1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (2400m) at Longchamp in Paris. Danedream (ridden by Andrasch Starke for trainer Peter Schiergen) defeated Irish-bred fellow 3YO filly Shareta (Sinndar-Shawara, by Barathea) & Irish-bred 4YO mare Snow Fairy (Intikhab-Woodland Dream, by Charnwood Forest). Danedream was only supplemented for the race last Thursday, after pleasing connections in her trackwork. At her previous 2 starts, Danedream similarly slaughtered her older rivals by 5-lengths in July’s German Gr1 Grosser Preis Von Berlin (2400m) at Hoppegarten & then by 6-lengths in September’s German Gr1 Grosser Preis von Baden (2400m) at Baden-Baden. Danedream was a bargain €9,000 (A$12,300) purchase at the 2010 BBA June Sale; overall she now has 5 wins (also including May’s Italian Gr2 Oaks D’Italia over 2200m at San Siro by 6.5-lengths) & 4 placings (including May’s Italian Gr2 Derby Italiano over 2200m at the Capannelle, plus 2010’s Gr3 Preis Der Winterkonigin over 1600m at Baden-Baden, Listed Oppenheim-Rennen over 1400m at Cologne & French listed Criterium Du Fonds Europeen De L’Elevage over 1600m at Deauville) from 12 starts for €2,826,486 (A$3.872m) earnings.
