Tangerine Trees Wins French Gr1 Prix De L'Abbaye

Front-running UK-bred 6YO gelding Tangerine Trees (Mind Games-Easy To Imagine, by Cozzene) prevailed in a 3-way photo-finish to France’s €300,000 (A$411,000) Gr1 Prix de l’Abbaye (1000m) at Longchamp. Tangerine Trees (ridden by Tom Eaves for trainer Bryan Smart) scored by a short-neck from Irish-bred fellow 6YO gelding Secret Asset (Clodovil-Skerray, by Soviet Star) with a further nose to Uk-bred 4YO entire Sole Power (Kyllachy-Demerger, by Distant View). Tangerine Trees took his record to 12 wins (also including August’s UK Listed Beverley Bullet Stakes over 5 furlongs at Beverley & April’s UK Gr3 Palace House Stakes over 5 furlongs at Newmarket, plus 2010’s UK Listed Rous Stakes over 5 furlongs at Newmarket) & 8 placings from 34 starts for €290,449 (A$398,000) earnings.
