US Champ Fleet Indian Euthanased Aged 10

US 2006 Eclipse Award-winning Champion Older Female Fleet Indian (Indian Charlie-Hustleeta, by Afleet) was euthanased at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky “because of complications from colic” aged 10, reported bloodhorse.com. Fleet Indian was sold privately to Kentucky’s Summer Wind Farm “after she was bought back for US$3.9 million (in-foal to Storm Cat) at the 2007 Keeneland November breeding stock sale. On the track, Fleet Indian recorded 13 wins (including the Gr1 Beldame Stakes, Gr1 Personal Ensign Stakes, Gr2 Delaware Handicap, Gr3 Next Move Handicap, Gr3 Sixty Sails Handicap & Listed Obeah Handicap) from 19 starts for US$1,704,513 earnings. She subsequently produced 4 foals: her 1st (a Storm Cat colt) sold for US$2.05 million to John Ferguson at the 2009 Keeneland September Yearling Sale (named Storm n Indian, he has placed in 2 starts): & at this year’s Keeneland September Sale, her filly by Distorted Humor sold for US$500,000 to Shadwell Estate.
