Racing Vic Issues "Country Racing Statement"

Thursday, 6th October 2011

Racing Victoria chief executive Rob Hines issued a statement “in response to media reports regarding RV’s discussions with Country Racing Victoria around planning for the new wagering licence”. He noted: “Racing Victoria & CRV are engaged in discussions on how best to continue the development of country racing in Victoria under the arrangements of the new wagering licence which commences in August 2012. These discussions are focused on continuing the good work that CRV & Racing Victoria have undertaken over the last 3 years to improve efficiency & streamline the administration of country racing in this state. A key objective under the new wagering licence is to increase prize-money in country Victoria & the funding allocated to country clubs & we are committed to achieving this for the industry. In attaining this objective, we are looking for CRV to continue as an important shareholder in Victorian racing, provide advocacy on strategic issues & administer agreed club services.”
