Japanese Legend Symboli Rudolf Dies Aged 30
In Japan, dual Horse-Of-The-Year & local legend Symboli Rudolf (Partholon-Sweet Luna, by Speed Symboli) “who was the first Japanese horse to win 7 Gr1 races & was inducted into the Hall-Of-Fame in 1987” died aged 30 at Symboli Farm in Narita, reported racingpost.com. Symboli Rudolf (known nation-wide as “The Emperor”) won Japan’s 1984 3YO Triple Crown (Satsuki Sho-Guineas, Tokyo Yushun-Derby & Kikuko Sho-St Leger) & then beat older rivals in the Arima Kinen (Japan's end-of-season grand prix event); in 1985 he won the Japan Cup, the Tenno Sho-Spring & a 2nd Arima Kinen. Subsequently at stud, his progeny included Tokai Teio (who won the 1991 Japanese Guineas & Derby, 1992 Japan Cup & 1993 Arima Kinen).
