Maryland Yearlings Final Average Up 15.7%

Friday, 7th October 2011

Overall at the Fasig-Tipton Maryland Sale, 332 yearlings sold for US$6,149,600 at a final average of US$18,523 (up 15.7% on last year’s US$16,005) & a final median of US$9,250 (up 72.9% on last year’s US$5,350). The clearance rate also improved to 73.8% (last year 69.9%). Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning commented: “We’re pleased with the results. The sale was similar to what we’ve seen throughout all the yearling sales of 2011. There was significant demand for the quality horses, with pretty competitive bidding & good depth of buyers. But for those horses that aren’t deemed to be desirable, it’s not easy to produce meaningful sale results for their owners.”
