Descarado Wins Gr1 Caulfield Stakes

Dual Derby-winning shuttler & 6-time Gr1 victor High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells-Kasora, by Darshaan) added a Gr1 triumph when front-running 5YO gelding Descarado (High Chaparral-Karamea Lady, by Lord Ballina) scored a 0.75-length victory in the $400,000 weight-for-age Gr1 NZ Bloodstock Caulfield Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield. Descarado (ridden by Nash Rawiller for trainer Gai Waterhouse) defeated 6YO mare Avienus (Reset-Genova, by Darshaan) & 4YO mare Lights Of Heaven (Zabeel-I'm In Heaven, by Volksraad). Descarado now has 5 wins (also including 2010’s Gr1 Caulfield Cup over 2400m at Caulfield & Gr2 Hill Stakes over 1900m at Rosehill) & 7 placings (including March’s Gr1 Ranvet Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill, plus 2010’s Gr1 Mackinnon Stakes over 2000m at Flemington, Gr1 AJC Australian Derby over 2400m at Randwick & Gr2 Tulloch Stakes over 2000m at Rosehill, plus 2009's Gr2 NZ Bloodstock Wellington Thoroughbred Breeders Guineas over 1500m at Trentham) from 21 starts for $2,601,583 earnings.
