Monday, 10th October 2011

In Italy overnight, former shuttler Cape Cross (Green Desert-Park Appeal, by Ahonoora) added a juvenile Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred daughter Nayarra (Cape Cross-Massara, by Danehill) scored a half-length victory in the €243,000 (A$333,000) Gr1 Gran Criterium (1600m) for 2YOs at San Siro in Milan. Nayarra (ridden by Martin Dwyer for trainer Mick Channon) defeated UK-bred filly Rosa Eglanteria (Nayef-Rose Shift, by Night Shift) & Irish-bred colt Vedelago (Red Clubs-Queen Shy, by Marju). Nayarra took her record to 1 win & 6 placings (including both September’s UK Gr3 Oh So Sharp Stakes over 7 furlongs at Newmarket & UK Listed Stardom Stakes over 7 furlongs at Goodwood) from 9 starts for €149,594 (A$) earnings.
