Alcopop Out Of Spring Feature Races

Tuesday, 11th October 2011

The Spring is also all-but-over for 7YO gelding Alcopop (Jeune-Iota Of Luck, by Blevic) “after his Carnival campaign came to an end with a disappointing last (in the field of 9 behind Descarado) in Saturday's Gr1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m)” reported The Advertiser. Trainer Jake Stephens “officially ruled Alcopop out of Spring's 3 majors - Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate & Melbourne Cup - and said a decision on his immediate racing future would not be know until later in week”. Stephens noted: “He's got various niggling issues, they're neither here nor there, but it does make it hard to keep him up & going & the work into his legs.” However Stephens “didn't rule out a return to Melbourne late in the Spring. We'll check him out over the next few days & decide whether he has a good spell or we continue on. We could look for a race around the 2000m mark later in the Spring, but nothing over that. We'll just wait & see how he recovers.”
