UK Tatts Yearlings Book-2 Day-1: $297k Acclamation Colt

Wednesday, 12th October 2011

In the UK auction ring overnight, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s Shadwell Estates representative Angus Gold out-bid Mark Richards from the Hong Kong Jockey Club to pay top price of 180,000 guineas (A$297,000) for a colt by Rathbarry Stud’s resident stallion Acclamation (out of Theatrical mare Intrepid Queen) during the opening session of the 3-day Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2. The colt (from The Castlebridge Consignment) is a grandson of US Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Brave Raj. Gold commented: “Acclamation is a great stallion, who had to do it the hard way & is getting the better mares now. This horse should not take too long & is a 2YO type - we like to supplement the more backward home-breds with some sharper horses.”
