Kempsey Return At Warwick Park After 20 Months

Thursday, 13th October 2011

The Kempsey Race Club returns to its home course at Warwick Park this Saturday, 20 months after the track had to be closed because the surface had “deteriorated dangerously”. The last meeting at Kempsey was on 1 February 2010 when jockeys considered standing down due to the track condition, after grass over a large part of the course had been killed off following a mistake in applying chemicals. Club secretary Debbie Prosser noted: “This is a non-TAB meeting on Saturday. We’re confident that after this long break all our equipment is in 1st class order, but we have to make sure so this will be a real test.” Meetings scheduled for Kempsey over the past 20 months have been shared by other NSW mid-North Coast tracks at Port Macquarie & Taree.
