Emirates Buys European 5-Time Gr1-Star Dream Ahead

Friday, 14th October 2011

European 5-time Gr1-winning boom 3YO sprinter Dream Ahead (Diktat-Land Of Dreams, by Cadeaux Genereux) will be the star attraction on Emirates Park’s 2012 stallion roster following the purchase of southern hemisphere standing rights (& a 50% share-holding) by Emirates Park chief executive Trevor Lobb. At his most recent start, US-bred Dream Ahead (2010 European Co-Champion 2YO with superstar Frankel & 2011 European Champion Sprinter elect) defeated older rivals (headed by 14-time Gr1-winning Goldikova) to win France’s Gr1 Prix de la Foret (1400m) at Longchamp in Paris on this month’s Arc De Triomphe program & immediately afterwards Ireland’s Ballylinch Stud also purchased a significant interest, with Ballylinch owner John O'Connor confirming: “He will be retired at the end of the year & will stand at Ballylinch for the 2012 breeding season. He has always been a top-class horse & has now reached another level by beating Goldikova.” Dream Ahead currently boasts 6 wins (also including September’s UK Gr1 Betfred Sprint Cup over 6 furlongs at Haydock Park & July’s UK Gr1 July Cup over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, plus both 2010’s UK Gr1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket & French Gr1 Prix Morny over 1200m at Deauville) from 9 starts for €931,116 (A$1.276m) earnings. Lobb enthused: “He’s a magnificent individual standing 16.2 hands with an incredibly relaxed manner. I think anyone who saw the preliminaries for the Prix de la Foret would have noted what a wonderful temperament he posses & now I have seen it first-hand.” Lobb also noted: “It’s been confirmed in the past few days that Timeform rated Dream Ahead’s Prix de la Foret victory at 133lb. That compares more than favourably with any sprinter ever to stand in Australia.”
