Monday, 17th October 2011

Gr3-winning & multiple Gr1-placed stallion Commands (Danehill-Cotehele House, by My Swanee) added a black-type success (& 43rd individual stakes-winner) when 6YO mare Balmont (Commands-Grail Queen, by Lake Coniston) returned from a 30-weeks spell to score by a neck in the $100,000 Listed Nivison Stakes (1200m) for mares 4YO & up at Randwick. Balmont (ridden by Jeff Penza for trainer Guy Walter) defeated 4YO mare Pontiana (Redoute's Choice-Liberty Rose, by Royal Academy) & favoured 5YO mare Ofcourseican (Mossman-Yes She Can Cancan, by Canny Lad). Balmont (passed-in for $35,000 on a $50,000 reserve when consigned by Kooringal Stud at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney) took her record to 6 wins & 5 placings from 18 starts for $164,060 earnings.
