Dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a UK group success when front-running 5YO entire & former Gr1 Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory (Montjeu-Gryada, by Shirley Heights) scored a 1.25-lengths victory in the £200,000 (A$320,000) Gr3 British Champions Long Distance Cup (2 miles) at Ascot. Fame And Glory (ridden by Jamie Spencer for trainer Aidan O'Brien) defeated fellow Irish-bred 5YO entire Opinion Poll (Halling-Ahead, by Shirley Heights) & French-bred 3YO gelding Colour Vision (Rainbow Quest-Give Me Five, by Monsun). Fame And Glory was a 190,000 guineas (A$314,000) foal at the UK Tattersalls 2006 December Sale; overall he now boasts 13 wins (also including June’s UK Gr1 Gold Cup over 2.5 miles at Royal Ascot, May’s Irish Listed Saval Beg Stakes over 14 furlongs at Leopardstown & April’s Irish Listed Vintage Crop Stakes over 13 furlongs at Navan, plus 2010's UK Gr1 Coronation Cup over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs, Irish Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup over 10.5 furlongs at The Curragh, Irish Gr2 Royal Whip Stakes over 10 furlongs at The Curragh & Irish Gr3 Mooresbridge Stakes over 10 furlongs at The Curragh, as well as 2009's Gr1 Irish Derby over 12 furlongs at The Curragh, Irish Gr2 Derby Trial Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown & Irish Gr3 Ballysax Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown, in addition to 2008's French Gr1 Criterium De Saint-Cloud over 2000m) & 4 placings (including August’s Listed Irish Field St Leger Trial Stakes over 14 furlongs at The Curragh, plus 2010's Irish Listed Alleged Stakes over 10 furlongs at The Curragh, as well as both 2009's Gr1 English Derby over 12 furlongs at Epsom Downs & Irish Gr1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Leopardstown) from 21 starts for £2,285,406 (A$3.657m) earnings.
