So You Think 2nd In UK Gr1 Champion Stakes
In the UK, former Australian superstar & 8-time Gr1-winning 5YO entire So You Think (High Chaparral-Triassic, by Tights) finished runner-up, after a monumental head-to-head battle over the final furlong (which also produced a track-record time) behind globe-trotting French-bred 5YO gelding Cirrus Des Aigles (Even Top-Taille De Guepe, by Septieme Ciel) in the £1.3 million (A$2.08m) Gr1 Champion Stakes (10 furlongs) at Ascot. Cirrus Des Aigles (ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer Corine Barande-Barbe) clocked 2min 2.52sec to cross the line 0.75-lengths ahead of favourite So You Think (ridden by Ryan Moore for trainer Aidan O’Brein) with Irish-bred 4YO mare Snow Fairy (Intikhab-Woodland Dream, by Charnwood Forest) in 3rd place from the field of 12 starters.
