1st Stakes-Winner For Freshman Rail Link
In Italy, UK Juddmonte Stud’s Gr1 Arc de Triomphe-winning 8YO freshman stallion Rail Link (Dansili-Docklands, by Theatrical) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when UK-bred juvenile daughter Bugie D'Amore (Rail Link-Asmita, by Efisio) scored a 1-length victory in the €99,000 (A$136,000) Gr3 Premio Dormello (1600m) for 2YO fillies at San Siro in Milan. Bugie D’Amore (ridden by Mirco Demuro for trainer Bruno Grizzetti) defeated Irish-bred Cherry Collect (Oratorio-Holy Moon, by Hernando) & fellow UK-bred Cool Wave (One Cool Cat-Onda Chiara, by Dane Friendly). Bugie D’Amore took her record to 4 wins & 4 placings (including both September’s Listed Premio Coolmore over 1500m at San Siro & Listed Premio Repubbliche Marinare over 1500m at Capannelle) from 8 starts for €102,090 (A$140,000) earnings. Her sire Rail Link (who has produced 8 individual 1st-crop winners to date this year) stood at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket in England for £7,000 (A$11,200) in 2011 & & has 87 2YOs in his 1st-crop. On the track, Rail Link notched 5 successive victories as a 3YO in 2006 (including the Gr3 Prix du Lys, Gr1 Grand Prix de Paris, Gr2 Prix Niel Casino Barriere & culminating in his triumph against his older rivals in the Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe over 2400m at Longchamp in Paris) & from 7 starts overall (he lost his jockey on debut & then finished runner-up at his 2nd start) won £1,070,413 (A$1.713m) prize-money.
