1st Stakes-Winner for US Sire Aragorn

Also in the US, multiple Gr1-winning 9YO 2nd-crop stallion Aragorn (Giant's Causeway-Onaga, by Mr Prospector) recorded his 1st stakes-winner when juvenile gelding Paco Smart (Aragorn-Pier Sixty Six, by Cozzene) raced away for a 5.75-lengths victory in the US$76,500 Listed Vincent Moscarelli Memorial Stakes (6.5 furlongs) for 2YOs at Charles town in West Virginia. Paco Smart (ridden by Luis Batista for trainer Raimondo Schiano-Dicola) defeated fellow geldings Allen Did It (Windsor Castle-Lets Just Do It, by Roy) & Coleman Barricks (Luftikus-Christina's Fan, by Lear Fan). Paco Smart (a US$16,000 yearling at the 2010 Keeneland September Sale) now has 2 wins & a runner-up from 4 starts for US$64,560 earnings. His sire Aragorn (who stood for US$5,000 this year at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky) Aragorn recorded 6 wins (including 2006's Gr1 Shoemaker Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes & a 9 furlongs course record at Del Mar of 1min 44.79sec in 2006's Gr1 Eddie Read Handicap, plus both 2006's Gr2 Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap & Gr2 Oak Tree Breeders' Cup Mile Stakes at Santa Anita) & 6 placings (including runner-up in the 2006 Gr1 Breeders' Cup Mile) from 14 starts for US$1,529,325 earnings.
