Tuesday, 18th October 2011

Darley announced overnight that “in support of the Chinese thoroughbred industry, 2 well-bred, high-performing racehorses owned & raced by Sheikh Mohammed will begin their stud careers in China in 2012”. Jalil (Storm Cat-Tranquility Lake, by Rahy) who cost US$9.7 million as a yearling & went on to win the Gr2 Maktoum Challenge in Dubai for Godolphin will stand at Lisui Farm in Beijing; & Australian Gr1-winner Sousa (Galileo-Liberty Song, by Last Tycoon) who took the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick by 6-lengths, will stand at Ordos Farm in Inner Mongolia. Sheikh Mohammed's bloodstock advisor John Ferguson commented: “Sheikh Mohammed is eager to support the emergence of the Chinese thoroughbred industry & is particularly pleased he can contribute to the development of the Chinese racehorse. Sheikh Mohammed has selected these 2 stallions as they are both exceptional physical specimens, each boasts stellar Classic bloodlines & both performed with great credit at the highest level.”
