French Yearlings Day-1: $419k Galileo Colt

Tuesday, 18th October 2011

In the French auction ring overnight, bloodstock agent Marc-Antoine Berghracht (acting on behalf of a new client) paid top price of €310,000 (A$419,000) for a colt by former shuttler & Gr1 English Derby winner Galileo (out of Anabaa mare Hidden Silver) during the opening session at the 4-day Arqana October Yearling Sale at Deauville. The colt (consigned from Haras des Sablonnets) is a half-brother to 2009 French Gr1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains-2000 Guineas winner Silver Frost & Berghracht told racingpost.com: “He has everything. The colt is a lovely type who we knew would be expensive, as he has a great pedigree as well. He will stay in France, but we have not decided on a trainer yet.”
