Tuesday, 18th October 2011

Dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a 2nd Canadian Gr1 triumph when Irish-bred 5YO mare & 2010 Sovereign Award winner as Canadian Champion Female Turf Horse Miss Keller (Montjeu-Ingozi, by Warning) gained the decision in a 3-way photo-finish to the C$1 million Gr1 E.P.Taylor Stakes (10 furlongs on turf) for fillies & mares at Woodbine to improve on her runner-up in this same race last year. Miss Keller (ridden by John Velazquez for trainer Roger Attfield) scored by a head from Irish-bred 4YO mare I'm A Dreamer (Noverre-Summer Dreams, by Sadler's Wells) & with a further nose to Irish-bred 3YO filly Dream Peace (Dansili-Truly A Dream, by Darshaan). Miss Keller (a US$700,000 purchase at the 2010 Keeneland November Sale) now has 6 wins (also including 2010’s Gr2 Canadian Stakes over 9 furlongs at Woodbine & US Listed De La Rose Stakes over 8 furlongs at Saratoga) & 5 placings (including 2010’s Gr1 E.P.Taylor Stakes over 10 furlongs at Woodbine, US Gr2 Ballston Spa Handicap over 8.5 furlongs at Saratoga, Canadian Gr2 Nassau Stakes over 8 furlongs at Woodbine & US Gr2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile over 8 furlongs at Churchill Downs, plus 2009's US Gr3 Valley View Stakes over 8.5 furlongs at Keeneland) from 24 starts for C$1,254,805 earnings.
