Tuesday, 18th October 2011

In North America, dual-Derby winning stallion & former NZ shuttler Montjeu (Sadler's Wells-Floripedes, by Top Ville) added a Canadian Gr1 quinella when Irish-bred 4YO mare Sarah Lynx (Montjeu-Steel Princess, by Danehill) scored a 4-lengths victory in the C$1.5 million Gr1 Pattison Canadian International Stakes (12 furlongs on turf) at Woodbine in Toronto. Sarah Lynx (ridden by Christophe Soumillon for trainer John Hammond) defeated Irish-bred 4YO entire Joshua Tree (Montjeu-Madeira Mist, by Grand Lodge) who won this race last year & UK-bred 3YO colt Treasure Beach (Galileo-Honorine, by Mark Of Esteem). Sarah Lynx was a 60,000 guineas (A$99,000) yearling at the 2008 UK Tattersalls October Sale; overall she now has 3 wins (also including August’s French Gr2 Prix De Pomone over 2500m at Deauville) & a placing (in 2010’s French Gr2 Prix De Royallieu over 2500m at Longchamp) from 11 starts for C$1,091,659 earnings.
