Tuesday, 18th October 2011

US Gr2-winning 19-year-old stallion Petionville (Seeking The Gold-Vana Turns, by Wavering Monarch) “whose 41 stakes-winners include triple Gr1-winner Island Fashion, will stand in 2012 at Mike Jester’s Penn Ridge Farm in Pennsylvania,” reported bloodhorse.com. Petionville stood in 2011 at Margaux Farm in Kentucky for US$7,500. The Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation named Petionville (whose other graded-stakes winners include Caught In The Rain, Hour Glass, Publication, Runway Model, Sailors Sunset, True Passion, Two Step Salsa & Voodoo) its 2010 “number one stallion in the Northern Hemisphere by lifetime percentage of starters-from-foals-of-racing-age with 83.48%”. Jester enthused: “Petionville is a proven sire both in the sale ring & on the racetrack. He has sired 2 session-toppers at Keeneland for US$900,000 & US$250,000 respectively & he is perhaps Seeking The Gold’s best son at stud.” Petionville (who also boasts 65% winners-from-horses-of-racing-age) has sired 85 stakes-horses & the earners of more than US$33.7 million: his average earnings-per-runner is over US$64,600.
