Dream Ahead Retired & Northern Fee $23.5k
In Ireland overnight, Ballylinch Stud managing director John O'Connor announced boom 5-time Gr1-winning 3YO sprinter Dream Ahead (Diktat-Land Of Dreams, by Cadeaux Genereux) will not race again this year & has been officially retired to Ballylinch Stud “at a fee of €17,500 ($A23,500) & his book will be limited to 130 mares” reported racingpost.com. Last week Emirates Park confirmed it has purchased a 50% share in Dream Ahead (2010 European Co-Champion 2YO with superstar Frankel & 2011 European Champion Sprinter elect) who will shuttle to Australia as its star attraction for the 2012 Southern Hemisphere season. At his most recent start, US-bred Dream Ahead defeated older rivals (headed by 14-time Gr1-winner Goldikova) to win France’s Gr1 Prix de la Foret (1400m) at Longchamp in Paris on this month’s Arc De Triomphe program & retires with 6 wins (also including September’s UK Gr1 Betfred Sprint Cup over 6 furlongs at Haydock Park & July’s UK Gr1 July Cup over 6 furlongs at Newmarket, plus both 2010’s UK Gr1 Shadwell Middle Park Stakes over 6 furlongs at Newmarket & French Gr1 Prix Morny over 1200m at Deauville) from 9 starts for €931,116 (A$1.27m) earnings.
