Arc Runner-Up Nakayama Festa Retired To Japan Stud

Thursday, 20th October 2011

In Japan, Gr1-winning 5YO stallion Nakayama Festa (Stay Gold-Dear Wink, by Tight Spot) “who was narrowly denied by Workforce in France’s 2010 Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe has been retired & will now take up stallion duties in his native country” reported racingpost.com. Nakayama Festa (Japan’s 2010 Champion Older Male) “returned to Longchamp this year in his bid to go one better, but he finished well down the field in 11th place (over 14-lengths behind the winner Danedream) & will now retire to stud at the stallion station in Hidaka Cho. His trainer Yoshitaka Ninomiya commented: “He doesn't have any injuries, but we thought it was better for him to retire when his condition was good.” Nakayama Festa recorded 3 wins (in Japan’s 2010 Gr1 Takarazuka Kinen over 2200m, 2009 Listed Radio Nippon Sho over 2200m & 2008 Listed Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai over 1800m) & 3 runners-up (also including France’s 2010 Gr2 Prix Foy over 2400m & Japan’s 2009 Gr3 Keisai Hai over 2000m) from 13 starts for A$4.2 million earnings.
