Debut Win For Full-Sister To $1.1m Mearas

Thursday, 20th October 2011

The regally-bred full-sister to Gr3-winner & $1.1 million yearling Mearas (Redoute's Choice-Eldarin, by Marauding) scored on debut when 3YO filly Sindarin (Redoute's Choice-Eldarin) won over 1300m on the Kensington track at Randwick in Sydney yesterday for trainer Peter Snowden, despite badly missing the start. Injury forced her full-sister Meares (a $1.1 million yearling purchase by Woodlands Stud at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) to retire prematurely to Queensland's Raheen Stud in 2008 with 2 wins (in 2006's Gr3 Spring Stakes over 1600m at Newcastle & Listed Ming Dynasty Quality over 1400m at Randwick) & a placing (in 2007's Gr2 Royal Sovereign Stakes over 1200m at Randwick) from just 5 starts. Both Sindarin & Meares are from the immediate family of multiple Gr1-winner Grand Armee, Gr1-winner Dealer Principal, star HK sprinter Absolute Champion, as well as stakes-winners Drum, Anamato & Port Watch.
