Monday, 24th October 2011

Also in Japan, former shuttler Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat-Mariah's Storm, by Rahy) added a group success when 4YO entire Eishin Apollon (Giant's Causeway-Silk And Scarlet, by Sadler's Wells) scored by a head in the ¥76.91 million (A$1.011m) Gr3 Fuji Stakes (1600m) at Tokyo. Eishin Apollon (ridden by Hironobu Tanabe for trainer Masahiro Matsunaga) defeated 4YO mare Apricot Fizz (Jungle Pocket-Manhattan Fizz, by Sunday Silence) & 3YO colt Meiner Lacrima (Chief Bearhart-Teardrops, by Sunday Silence). Eishin Apollon now has 3 wins (also including 2009’s Listed Keio Hai Nisai Stakes over 1400m at Tokyo) & 4 runners-up (in 2010’s Gr2 Mainichi Okan over 1800m at Tokyo & Gr2 Yayoi Sho over 2000m at Nakayama, plus 2009’s Listed Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes over 1600m at Nakayama & Listed Daily Hai Nisai Stakes over 1600m at Kyoto) from 13 starts.
