Wednesday, 26th October 2011

In the UK auction ring overnight, agent Anthony Stroud out-bid New Zealand’s Guy Mulcaster to pay equal-top price of 250,000 guineas (A$413,000) for stakes-winning 4YO entire Fallen Idol (Pivotal-Fallen Star, by Brief Truce) during the 2nd session at the 4-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses-In-Training Sale at Newmarket. Fallen Idol was consigned by Normandie Stud (from trainer John Gosden’s Clarehaven Stables) & Stroud commented: “He's for the Dubai Carnival, but his trainer has yet to be decided.” Fallen Idol (whose dam Fallen Star is a half-sister to Gr1-winner Fly To The Stars) has won 4 races & carried a Timeform rating of 114. He is “expected to race for a Maktoum family member at Meydan” noted racingpost.com.
